The Daily Is This Happening
The unceasing inner dialogue commencing circa 2016
It just hangs over everything all the time. The is this happening.
Is this happening?
I think it is happening.
It isn’t happening.
It is happening.
What's happening?
It's happening.
What's happening.
It's happening.
It isn't happening. How do you know it's happening?
How is it not happening? Look around. It's happening.
There's a distortion of perception in the present. Things seem bigger than they are.
That's what you keep saying but at what point does you continuously insisting that become willful blindness to what’s happening?
Again: What is happening?
When I say it it sounds crazy.
You need to say it.
I don't like saying it.
You want to argue that it's happening but you won't say what's happening.
When I say it I sound like someone who doesn't know what he's talking about.
You want to argue about it but you can't talk about it.
Who do you talk about this with? The checkout clerk? The mailman? Your friends? Your family? They don't want to hear about it.
You first need to settle on what it is.
But the entire apparatus of our daily living is devoted to not acknowledging what it is. There are calls to make. There are emails to send. There is beauty to be appreciated in between. Look at the light filtering through the trees. It's lovely.
It is lovely.
Yes! It is lovely!
See the kids and how they hold their heads just so and how their smiles look like dad's and their eyes look like mom's. They are adorable.
They are adorable.
Yes! They are adorable! We are present. We are in the moment. We are our authentic selves. That's what people want to talk about. Not the this is happening my God what are we going to do.
You either need to do this or not do it. The not doing it and thinking about not doing it and the implications of doing it versus not doing it are paralyzing you.
Do what?
